Cihan: Turkey to lose part of its territory if invades Syria
The former Turkish Foreign Minister Yasar Yakishe warned that Turkey risks losing a part of its own territory, if military invasion are carried out in Syria, reports the Turkish Cihan news agency.
"The possibility of negative developments for Turkey is high, regarding the military campaign, which is carried out by the Syrian troops, supported by the Russian aviation," said Yakishe.
According to the former minister, Turkey may consider the possible occupation of Syria's Azaz and Jarablusi districts to protect the rebels, but at the same time, Ankara is in great danger of losing its Hatay province.
The international community can not tolerate the fact that Turkey may define the border lines of the countries in the Middle East on his own.
Damascus will demand the Hatay province from Turkey, in case of the Ankara’s failure in terms of Syria, which declared itself ‘independent’ of Syria in 1930.
The Turkish troops, if they invade Syria, will face the mighty Russian forces, which seek to take revenge of the destroyed Су-24 bomber.
Yakish believes that NATO may violate the article 5 of its Statue, which reads:
“The attack of a member is regarded an attack on all the members of the military alliance.”
In this respect Turkey will be regarded as the initiator of aggression and US may leave Turkey alone.
